Traffic will be under the direction of traffic controllers or traffic lights for both projects, with reduced speed limits in place. While there are no detours, road users are advised to expect minor delays. 'Bomen Roads'

Roadworks

Slocum Lane and Kincaid Street

What: Reseal preparation works

When: 14 February, for five days  

Traffic conditions: Entry and exit to Slocum Lane via northern unnamed laneway only between Evans and Slocum streets. Detour signs and traffic management in place.

O'Reilly Street

What: Reseal preparation works

When: 20 February, for five days  

Traffic conditions: Partial road closures. No entry into O’Reilly Street from Morrow Street, entry only from Tompson Street during work hours. Exit from O’Reilly Street will change, pending where the work is taking place. It is anticipated for the first three days traffic will exit from the Tompson street end and for the remainder of the work, traffic will exit via the Morrow Street end.

Wonderland Lane

What: Reseal preparation works

When: 20 February, for five days  

Traffic conditions: Wonderland Lane driveway works. Lane closed, alternate access via Coles car park. Detour signs in place.

Inglewood Road

What: Drainage works at the Mitchell Road end of Inglewood Road

When: From Tuesday 31 January, sealing scheduled for Saturday  11 February,

Traffic conditions: Minor lane closures during work hours

Mitchell Road

What: Road rehabilitation works on Mitchell Road, between Cummins and Gregadoo roads.

When: Mid-February, 2017 for about four weeks. 6.30am and 5pm Mon-Fri.

Traffic conditions: Lane closures along Mitchell Road to through traffic

East Bomen Road 

What: The Bomen Enabling Roads project requires the road closure to construct the new roadways and roundabout

When: From 3 January 2017 until June 2017

Campbell Place

What: Sewer realignment works

When: 16 January 2017 for four weeks. 7am to 5pm Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm Sat

Traffic conditions: Local traffic only

Eunony Bridge Road

Note: This project has been severely impacted by recent rain and flood events. New revised timeline below.

Where: 1.3km stretch between the Sturt Highway and Eunony Bridge. Click here for map of work area.

What: Road base strengthening

When: Work restarted on this project in December 2016. Initial works will include reinstating road material washed away during flooding. It is hoped all gravel will be placed by Christmas with final compaction, shaping and seal to be completed by mid-to-late January. Motorists and residents are thanked for their patience during the completion of these projects.

Crampton Street

What: Reinstate the road after the upgrade of a Riverina Water mains pipeline

When: From Thursday 19 January for four days, weather permitting. Work hours from 7am to 5pm.

Traffic conditions: Crampton Street will be closed between Beckwith and Simmons Street and a detour will be in place. Residential access will be from the opposite end of the street to where the work is taking place. Staff will be on-site to assist residents and pedestrians in the immediate area. No on-street parking will be available where work is taking place.

2016/17 Reseal Program

The City of Wagga Wagga undertakes its reseal program throughout summer and early spring each year with 17 local roads to be resealed.

The works begin on Tuesday 10 January and traffic conditions throughout the city will be subject to change, including road closures and partial road closures.

All traffic changes will be signposted and all works start at 7am.

Non-Council projects

The below road projects are within the local government area but are on state or federal roads, or are been undertaken as a part of development projects.

Edward Street

Where: Edward Street, near the Hospital

When: Starting 7am Sunday 15 February for around 6-8 weeks (weather permitting). Work will be carried out at night between 6pm-6am, with some additional minor works during the day.

What: Creation of dedicated turning lane and relocation of a bus bay. Work are a part of the redevelopment of the Wagga Wagga Rural Referral Hospital.

Traffic conditions: Changed traffic conditions including lane closures will be in place for the safety of
workers and motorists. Motorists should plan ahead, allow extra time for their journeys and follow the
direction of traffic control and all signs.

Hammond Avenue (Sturt Highway)

Where: Hammond Avenue near Stuart Road

When: Preparation work on Tuesday 17 January, major work from Friday 3 February for four weeks, weather permitting.

What: Asphalt works by Roads and Maritime Services

Traffic conditions: The Sturt Highway will be reduced to two lanes. Work hours are between 6am and 6pm during the major work phase. One night shift will take place between 6pm and 6am at  the end of the project to finalise the works. Other traffic changes include:

  • Minor changes to parking and property access
  • No right turns will be allowed into Stuart Road, Gillard Road and all properties along the length of the project. Stuart Road and Gillard Road will be left in and left out access only.
  • A number of driveways may be impacted for several days at a time. Alternative access will be arranged at adjacent driveways or at the rear of the property where possible.
  • Stuart Road will be closed for up to one week in early February and Gillard Road will be closed for one weekend in mid to late February.
  • Access to Stuart Road will be from Copland Street, via Lockyer Street, Houtman Street and Hovell Street.

Upcoming works

Nordlingen Drive rehabilitation works

Road Closed: Nordlingen Drive between Boswell Street and Malaya Drive.

When: Early 2017, for approximately one month

Traffic conditions: Road will be closed to through traffic with detours in place. Driveway access will be maintained for residents under traffic control during work hours.
