Riverside Strategic Masterplan

The Riverside Strategic Master plan was developed in 2009 after extensive consultation with the community of Wagga Wagga. A number of public meetings and forums were held to listen to the communities thoughts and ideas on what should be included in the Riverside project.

Future Projects

Implement Wagga Wagga Beach Landscape Plan - Stage 2 (2019)

(This stage is subject to future Council resolutions and funding allocations).

In March 2014, Wagga Wagga City Council resolved not to renew a lease on the Wagga Wagga Beach Caravan park site beyond the terms of the current arrangement (May 2019).

This resolution will allow for this integral parcel of “The Bend” to be opened to the people of Wagga Wagga to create a major community recreation space. The proposal for this site will include major developments such as a new regional standard playground structure and “pop-up” café precinct. Other components of this stage are:

  • the construction of a new parking area
  • a “water based” playground
  • upgrades to existing amenities facilities
  • creation of a market/festival space to be used for major community events
  • improvements to the existing path network and creation of a new shared path.

Commercial Opportunities

(This stage is subject to future Council resolutions and funding allocations).

Council staff are exploring opportunities that could be made available within the Riverside Precinct. It is envisaged that these opportunities will be presented to the market once suitable sites have been chosen and opportunities have been enabled (i.e. rezoning complete, land subdivided etc).
