National Apology Day

The City of Wagga Wagga would like to invite all community members to attend the 2020 Apology Day Ceremony to commemorate the 12th anniversary of the Apology to Australia’s Indigenous Peoples delivered by the then Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd.

The official ceremony will take place at the Amphitheater on the Wollundry Lagoon, near the Civic Theatre from 10am, followed by light refreshments in the Civic Theater foyer.

Significance of the Apology

13 February 2008 was a historic and a significant day for all Australians. It was a day when the Motion of Apology to Australia's Indigenous Peoples was introduced by the then Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, and unanimously passed by the House of Representatives in Parliament.
