Botanic Gardens Festival

Come and celebrate the Botanic Gardens 50th Anniversary at the Botanic Gardens Family Garden Festival!

Sunday 4th November 2018 from 9am to 4pm

  • The Murrumbidgee Rotary Club are  holding a Teddy Bears Picnic near the adventure playground! Look out for the Teddy Bear parade, jumping castle, playhouse on wheels, face painting and stalls. All proceeds go to Ronald McDonald House.

Competition Information

Pop Up Garden Challenge

The Pop-Up Garden Challenge is open to all landscape designers and garden businesses, as well as students of horticulture. The gardens can be city gardens, edible gardens, sustainable gardens, container gardens, or just pure imagination gardens, the choice is yours! No entry fee applies.

Size & Rules

The gardens created shall not exceed 3 x 3m.  Each exhibit must be strong and practical. The gardens can be erected from 8.00am Saturday 3rd November, and completed by 9.00am on Sunday 4th November (there will be a security guard on site on Saturday night). No digging down is allowed, gardens must be built above ground.  All entrants can have promotional material on site. Gardens must remain on site until 4.00pm, and are to be removed ASAP.

Promotion

All entrants will be added to our website as they come in, and we may use photos on Facebook & media.

Prizes

A trophy will go to the winner.

Cake Decorating Competition

The cake decorating competition is open to all cake decorators, either business or the public.

Size and Rules

All cakes are to be decorated in a floral or garden theme. Any cake that is not a floral or garden related theme will not be accepted. Each cake will be judged purely on decoration only. Cakes should be submitted by 9.00am on Sunday 4 November. Cakes will be displayed on tables inside a marquee. There is no entry fee. All entrants may have promotional material for their business on site. Cakes are to remain on site until 4.00pm, and must be collected by 5.30pm.

Flower Show

The flower show is open to all florists, flower clubs, and the public.

Size and Rules

There are two classes in the Flower Show – Flower Arrangement and Single Bloom Display

For the Flower Arrangement Displays, each display should not exceed 2m long x 1m wide.  For the Single Bloom Displays, each entry will need to be submitted in a clear glass container. The displays need to be submitted by 9.00am on Sunday 4th November. Entries will be set up on tables inside a marquee. No entry fee applies. All entrants can have promotional material on site. Displays are to remain on site until 4.00pm, and must be collected by 5.30pm.

School Year 6 Mosaic Competition

We are very happy to announce that all materials for this competition have been donated by Bunnings.

Year 6 students from each school are to design and create a mosaic of one of the following: Native flowers, shrubs, marsupials, reptiles/lizards or birds.

All schools will be able to select 1 x sheet of blue board – 1.2 x 600mm, glue, tiles and grout, donated by Bunnings.

All entries will be delivered on site before 9.00am on the day. All entries will be kept on site, and incorporated in a display in the zoo after the competition is finished.

Competition Entry and Stall Holder Application Information

To apply to enter any of the above competitions, or to apply to be a stall holder at the event, please fill in all details and email the form below to adminparks@wagga.nsw.gov.au by 30 September 2018.

Entry into competitions and stall holder sites are free of charge, all businesses need to supply a copy of their certificate of currency with public liability cover of $20 million.

Space is limited, so ensure you get your application in early to avoid missing out.
