Wagga Wagga Art Gallery welcomes the next exciting generation of Australian photographers in Lucid, the fifth graduation exhibition by students from the Bachelor of Arts (Photography) degree at the Wagga Wagga campus of Charles Sturt University.
Lucid showcases the work of a talented and highly motivated group of students. The exhibition features a wide variety of photographic styles and techniques, united by a constant passion for these artists’ chosen medium.
Jamie Holcombe, Course Coordinator for Photography at Charles Sturt University’s School of Communication and Creative Industries, explains that “Lucid is an apt title because, as these students reach the conclusion of their Photography degree, their work has become more defined and resolved, and they see more clearly what they want and where they are going.
There is also a sense of lucidity in the way these students are searching for a kind of honesty or truthfulness in their work, reflecting their integrity as practitioners. They have learned to discover and reveal their worlds through an aesthetic and individually discernible, visual idiom.”
Artists participating in Lucid include: Max Brading, Alastair Brook, Madeleine Caccianiga, Alexandra Chubb, Rafael De Lima, James Farley, Jacob Forrest, Abbie Hall, Sophie Joyce, Emma O’Brien, Adele Packer, Kyle Pearson, Hannah Prangnell, Jacob Raupach, Rhea Somerville, Tristan Strong, Rhiannon Thornley, Lindsay Turner, Mel Vanderhorst, and Mitchell Williams.
Lucid will be open to the public in the Links Gallery at Wagga Wagga Art Gallery from Friday 19 October until Sunday 9 December. The exhibition will be officially launched by Professor Andrew Vann, Vice-Chancellor and President of Charles Sturt University, on Saturday 20 October, from 6pm.
