The $6.1M Eunony Bridge Road deviation project was one of the key proposals to come out of the Bomen Strategic Master Plan.
The new road and the new roundabout at the Byrnes Road/Oura Road intersection is complete and opened to traffic on Friday 3 July 2015.

Project Updates
Friday 3 July
The new Eunony Bridge Road and Oura Road/Byrnes Road roundabout is open to traffic. Work is continuing to upgrade the section of Eunony Bridge Road between Eunony Bridge and the new road.
Work on upgrading the rest of Eunony Bridge Road (between Eunony Bridge and the Sturt Highway) and a section of Byrnes Road will begin in the coming months.
Thursday 25 June
The final touches of the project are being worked on to allow for the opening of the new road and roundabout late next week.
Works include filling in the islands, line marking, sealing, and the seeding and mulching of drains.
Staff were unable to work on some days over the last two weeks due to wet weather.
Thursday 18 May
Asphalt works in the vicinity of the new roundabout were successfully completed over the weekend.
It is anticipated that there will be no additional road closures for the duration of the project. However, traffic conditions may change and traffic will be directed accordingly.
Work on the final touches for the project, such as line marking and islands, is continuing.
Thursday 7 May
Work on the new road and roundabout linking Byrnes Road and Eunony Bridge Road is on track to be completed by the end of June 2015.
Wagga Wagga City Council Staff are currently completing drainage works on the roundabout and finalising preparations of the base of the new road so that it is ready for asphalting works starting in mid to late May.
Recent announcements for additional funding means upgrades to existing sections of Byrnes Road and Eunony Bridge Road have also been scheduled for this calendar year.
Monday 23 February
Council staff have run the first layer of pavement material through the deviation road, and are in the process of compacting and shaping it.
Thedrainage culvert through that part of the job has been placed.
Oura Road remains closed to all traffic between Hale Street and Byrnes Road. Truck drivers are reminded that due to a 4.5 tonne limit on the detour road along Hillary Street, they must take an alternate route via Bomen Road, Olympic Highway and Sturt Highway.
Thursday 5 February
The Eunony Bridge Road Deviation Project is progressing wellwith works beginning on a new roundabout on the corner of Oura Road and ByrnesRoad.
Recent works also include the installation or relocation of underground power lines, optic fibre, Telstra cables and covered gaslines.
All unsuitable material has been removed from the alignment of the new road, with all select fill material in place.
Oura Road will be closed to traffic between Hale Street andByrnes Road for approximately three months while the roundabout is beingconstructed, with appropriate detours in place for heavy vehicles and lightvehicles.
The Eunony Bridge Road Deviation Project is on track to becompleted by 30 June 2015, and will allow Eunony Bridge Road to connect directlywith Byrnes Road and through to the Bomen Business Park.
