Council considers it of vital importance to manage trees and other vegetation in Wagga Wagga and ensure that environmental and ecological sustainability is maintained.
A tree should not be killed for a household view or any other personal reason. Damaging or removing a tree without consent can be a breach of the NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 or Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997. Penalties or prosecution can apply to someone who damages or removes a tree without consent.
Council does not support applications for lopping trees as lopped trees are more likely to fail, and it is harmful to the tree. Lopping trees can lead to penalties or prosecution.
