The Museum of the Riverina tells stories about the people and events which have helped shape the City of Wagga Wagga and the Riverina Region.

Over two sites; the Historic Council Chambers located at the Wagga Wagga Civic Centre, and Botanic Gardens Site on Willans Hill, the Museum of the Riverina's collection holds approximately 15,000 objects, photographs, textiles and paper-based materials.

Historic Council Chambers Site

The Historic Council Chambers site brings an ever-changing roster of major exhibitions, right in the heart of downtown Wagga Wagga.

At the site you will see:

  • Rotating exhibitions based on local history
  • Travelling exhibitions
  • The Historic Council Chambers

Botanic Gardens Site

The Museum's Botanic Gardens site is a great place to discover the Wagga Wagga story and engage with the Riverina's natural environment and has its own station on the Willans Hill Miniature Railway line. The Museum is a short walk from the Wagga Wagga Botanic Gardens and zoo.

At the Museum of the Riverina Botanic Gardens site you will see:

  • Wiradjuri/ Wiradyuri First Nations items of significance
  • Objects and stories from local history
  • Schoolhouse
  • Sporting Hall of Fame
  • Farm Machinery
  • Kidzone
  • Workshop space
