Fire Safety Schedules

The Fire Safety Schedule helps make sure that a building's fire safety measures are installed and maintained.

What is a Fire Safety Schedule?

A Fire Safety Schedule is issued as part of building approval for a change of building use, alterations, or new construction, either by Council or a private certifier. For existing buildings, a Fire Safety Schedule may also be issued by Council through a Fire Safety Order.

A Fire Safety Schedule identifies:

  • the fire safety measures installed in the building, and
  • the standard of performance required for each measure.

Find your Fire Safety Schedule

The current Fire Safety Schedule for your property can be found via a property search on Council's Online Services website.

The document will be located under the published documents section.

Request to reissue a Fire Safety Schedule

A building owner may apply to have a Fire Safety Schedule reissued by either Council or a private building certifier.

A private building certifier may only reissue a Fire Safety Schedule if an Occupation Certificate has not yet been issued.

Council may only reissue a Fire Safety Schedule where it is satisfied that:

  • the original schedule has been lost or destroyed; or
  • the schedule contains errors or omissions that require correction.

A Fire Safety Schedule cannot be reissued where the error or omission arises from:

  • building work; or
  • changes to the plans or specifications relating to the building’s fire safety measures.
