Location: Wagga Wagga Civic Precinct

This sculptural work located in the Burns Way traffic island adjacent to the Civic Theatre was commissioned as part of the Wollundry Federation Riverina Amphitheatre project (1999 – 2001). The sculpture depicts stylised images of the Silver Banksia (Banksia Marginata); the City of Wagga Wagga’s floral emblem. The Silver Banksia was thought to be prolific on the low sand hills, which now form the central business district of Wagga Wagga.

The sculpture stands at approximately 2 metres in height and 1.5 metres in with, the artwork contains 6 sheets of 25mm thick glass and a 45mm stainless steel panel in the centre. The slices of etched glass placed in layers gives a holographic effect and is illuminated at night.
