The Wollundry Lagoon is an intrinsic component of the Murrumbidgee River flood plain. Now a lagoon, these panels by Sue McPherson tell the story of the lagoon. “Wollundry” is a Wiradjuri word, which translates to “place of stones” and is an important site for the Wiradjuri people, the traditional custodians of the land.
Each of the five glass panels tells a different story about the lagoon.
Sue McPherson is a storyteller now living in Queensland. She was born to a beautiful Aboriginal mother, from Wiradjuri country. Sue was a state ward and adopted into the McPherson family, landowners from the Batlow area when she was very young. Sue’s first novel, Grace Beside Me won the Kuril Dhagun Indigenous Writing Competition through the State Library of Queensland. These days, Sue spends her time writing novels for young adults and as a screenwriter for TV and the big screen.
