Sound installation
Wollundry Lagoon boardwalk, Wagga Wagga
About the Artwork
People gathering and dancing has a long history and significance for the people of Wagga Wagga. Many Dances is a sound experience located at the Wollundry Lagoon boardwalk celebrating this rich history.
This continually changing soundscape surrounds the listener with echoes of people dancing – as if you are remembering a dance that has occurred or thinking about a dance in the future, provoking listeners to consider this experience in the context of Wagga Wagga as ‘the place of many dances’.
With thanks to Wagga Wagga dancer Ivy Simpson for the rhythmic dancing featured in this body of work
