Originally funded by the Combined Churches of Wagga Wagga in partnership with Council as part of a 1988 Bicentennial Project, the Tree Chapel at the Botanic Gardens has been the unique setting for hundreds of weddings over the past 30+ years.
It provides a venue for open air services and weddings in a setting reminiscent of early religion, being as it was simplistic and rustic. All the trees and shrubs in this area have relevance to the Bible. The rock altar was uncovered during excavations for the garden and forms a beautiful, natural feature in the open air chapel.
As a part of the Botanic Garden's 50th anniversary celebrations, the Tree Chapel was treated to a major refurbishment, with the project including new retaining walls, paving and planting of Ornamental pears, maples, couch grass and flowering shrubs, all undertaken by the Council’s Parks and Gardens team.
