10 December: River continues to rise and fall with dam releases
The river in Wagga dropped to a low of 3.86m on Thursday morning and has now begun rising again due to increased outflows from Burrinjuck Dam.
Over the last 24 hours there has been significant rainfall in the upstream catchment of the Murrumbidgee River including 55mm at Cooma
WaterNSW has been increasing outflows from Burrinjuck Dam in preparation for this inflow and further rainfall in the catchment upstream of the Dam.
There is currently 30,000ml/day flowing out of Burrinjuck Dam and with flows from downstream tributaries such as Tarcutta Creek and Hillas Creek to join into this flow, the river at Wagga Wagga is expected to reach between 5-6m over the next few days.
Council will monitor the river and the infrastructure as necessary and advise of any changes it needs to make to keep everything safe and trafficable.
