5 October 2021: River high as dam releases increase

With the rain over the weekend Burrinjuck Dam went from 91.5% to 99.7% and after increasing outflows has now dropped to 98.9% .

The river in Wagga peaked at 5.4m overnight and has been decreasing slowly as both rainfall runoff and dam flows migrate through the system.

Over the next few weeks the river is expected to stay between 3.5 and 5.5m as WaterNSW balance the demands for irrigation downstream of Wagga, the runoff from an expected wet October and the need to create airspace in both Burrinjuck and Blowering Dams.

Council is constantly monitoring the river and dam system and is managing our infrastructure to minimise disruption across the LGA.
