10 October 2022: Moderate flooding possible

Council is continuing to undertake preparations for moderate flooding of the Murrumbidgee River at Wagga Wagga.

The Bureau of Meteorology advises the ‘Murrumbidgee River at Wagga Wagga may exceed the moderate flood level (9.00 metres) overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. The river level may reach around 9.20 metres Wednesday afternoon with moderate flooding.’

Several local roads have already been closed and further impacts to the road network are expected within the area.

Based on previous flood events, the Eunony Bridge Road and Boorooma Street (between the Olympic Highway and Gardiner Street) are likely to be closed when the river exceeds 8.5 metres and may remain closed for several days.
