Below you will find a number of local services to help you out, including a range of 24 hour crisis telephone numbers. If you are experiencing an emergency however, please call 000.

CAREVAN WAGGA INC

Pre-prepared evening meals across Wagga on alternate nights.

SALVOS DOORWAYS

Emergency relief including food relief, low-cost pantry , financial assistance, secure lockers and advice. Monday to Thursday 9:30am to 12noon.

KOORINGAL COMMUNITY CENTRE

Emergency food relief. Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.

ASHMONT NGURRA HUB

Emergency food relief. Monday to Thursday, 9am to 1pm.

LIFELINE

Lifeline provides 24/7 crisis support and suicide prevention services.

Medicare Mental Health Centre

Free mental health assistance in the form of mental heath nurses, social workers, service navigators and peer support.

BEYOND BLUE

Talk to a trained mental health professional any time of the day or night. Calls are confidential.

headspace

headspace has a range of ways to support you online or by phone. You can get support for your mental health by simply creating a headspace account.

KIDS HELPLINE

A free, private and confidential 24/7 telephone and online counselling service specifically for young people aged between 5 and 25.

Provides callers with 24/7 information, assessments and referrals to homelessness support and accommodation services across NSW.

DEPARTMENT COMMUNITIES AND JUSTICE – HOUSING

Reducing homelessness is a part of the NSW Premier's 'Premier's Priorities'.

NSW Government Department of Communities and Justice are responsible for the response to homelessness in New South Wales. Council is providing this information to assist community members on where to find help.

If you are in need of financial and legal assistance, the following organisations are available to reach out to:

  • Ashmont Community Centre will be closed from 1pm Thursday 21st Dec and reopen Tuesday 2nd Jan for ER supports only, full staff attendance will be from Monday 8th Jan

    • Food relief only: 27 December from 11am to 1pm

  • Salvo’s Doorways will be closed from 12pm 20th December – re open the 3rd January.
  • VERTO will be closed as of 12pm on 22 December and re-open on 2 January 2024

  • Community Corrections will be closed 25th 26th and 27th December 2023 and 1st January 2024
  • Legal Aid’s Wagga office will be closed from Monday, 25 December and will reopen on Monday, 8 January. For any urgent legal issues requiring legal advice, please call LawAccess on 1300 888 529.
  • Relationships Australia: Thursday 21st December 2023 and returning on Friday 5th January 2024
  • Pathways Murrumbidgee office will be closed from 3pm Friday 22nd December until reopening on Tuesday 2nd Jan 2024.
