Are you passionate about what happens in your local community?
Becoming a councillor gives you a special opportunity to make a difference. As a councillor, you'll be responsible for making significant decisions that have a far-reaching impact on your community.
In 2021, we're encouraging women and people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities to stand for the 2021 NSW Local Government Elections. Having a council that represents the diversity of our community ensures a range of perspectives and experiences – which benefits us all.
Ready to get started? Register now for one of our workshops:
Saturday 10 April 2021, 9.30am – 2.30pm
Wagga Wagga City Council recognises the importance of equality between women and men as a fundamental aspect of a just, inclusive and diverse community. We are committed to promoting equal opportunities for the full participation of women and men in all aspects of public and political live, with a view to achieve a better gender-balanced representation at Council.
It is important to have gender-balanced councils that reflect the diversity of our multicultural community and to challenge traditional gender roles and stereotypes in a decision-making setting.
This workshop is aimed at women interested in making a difference in their community and is a step towards achieving ALGWA’s objectives of reaching a gender-balanced council that represents the diversity of the community.
The workshop is presented by a number of current female councillors including Councillor Cass Coleman (NSW ALGWA President).
This is a free session with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea provided.
Please note: This workshop will be livestreamed on Council’s website and Facebook page. If you attend this workshop, either remotely or in person, you consent to the possibility that your image and/or voice may also be broadcast to the public.
