Preparing your load

When preparing your load you should consider the order in which items will need to be unloaded, particularly if you have multiple waste types that require sorting at the transfer station.

Items for the Tip Shop should be loaded last as you can drop these items off prior to going over the weighbridge.

Ensure you always secure and cover your load before venturing onto the roadway. This will ensure your items will be transported safely and you won't run the risk of being fined.

Arriving at Gregadoo Waste Management Centre

Prior to entering the weighbridge you will need to uncover your load. There is a small bay you can utilise to safely uncover your load approximately 50 metres before the weighbridge. Uncovering the load will allow weighbridge staff to determine what waste items you have to dispose of and can therefore provide you with the best advice on where to head from the weighbridge. Not all items are charged by weight, therefore loads need to be visible for weighbridge staff to ensure they charge you the correct fee.

After you have uncovered your load, continue on to the weighbridge where your vehicle will be weighed.  You may be asked to verify the contents of your load with the weighbridge operator. You will then be directed as to where to head to dispose of your waste. You must follow the direction of staff at all times.

For full loads of scrap metal, tyres, green waste, bricks, concrete and timber waste you will be directed to the specialist drop off areas.

All mixed loads will be directed to the transfer station for sorting.  You will be met at the entry to the transfer station by a member of staff who will direct you to the various bays that you will need to use to correctly separate your waste. Sorting your waste correctly reduces the cost for users, keeps problem wastes out of landfill and helps reduce the total amount of waste that is sent to landfill.

Once you have finished disposing of your waste you will drive back to the weighbridge for a second weigh. This weight difference will determine the amount of waste that has been disposed and the resulting fee that will be payable.
