Roll out the picnic rug from 6.30pm for this family-friendly event. Soak up the atmosphere and enjoy an evening of food trucks and a spectacular fireworks displays at 9.30pm. It's time to celebrate the year 2024!

Is this an all-ages event?
Yes, this event is family-friendly, and will be a great opportunity to spend time with friends and family to celebrate the year that was and bring in 2025!
Where will I be able to see the fireworks?
The fireworks display will be visible from the shores of Lake Albert. Event attendees are encouraged to set up at one of the vantage points around the lake, being Ron Wheeler Park, Ray Beddoe Park and the main vantage point in Apex Park. Event goers are encouraged to bring a picnic rug and settle in form 6:30pm in anticipation for the fireworks display.
What time are the fireworks?
The fireworks display will commence at 9:30pm and conclude at approximately 9:45pm.
Will there be food available to purchase?
Yes, there will be a selection of local food vendors located in Apex Park for the duration of the event where food and drink can be purchased. Food vendors will cater for a variety of dietary requirements. There will be no alcohol or bar sales at this event. Please see the Food Vendor dropdown on this page to see the delicious food options that will be available.
Can I bring my own picnic?
Yes, absolutely. We encourage event attendees to bring along their own picnic to enjoy at the event and plenty of water to stay hydrated. We ask attendees to use the bins provided to dispose of their waste to ensure Lake Albert is left clean and tidy.
Is this event free to attend?
Yes, absolutely. This is a free, non-ticketed community event for Wagga Wagga locals and visitors to enjoy. Purchases from local food vendors will be at your own expense.
Will there be road closures?
Yes, there will be some road closures and detours in place to ensure the safety of attendees and road users. The road closures and detours will be in place from 5pm - 11pm. Traffic Controllers from Riverina Traffic Services will be onsite to direct traffic. The road closures and detours will be in place on Eastlake Drive, Lakeside Drive and Lansdowne Avenue. Residents living in close proximity to Lake Albert are encouraged to walk to the event. Event goers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow time to find a car park.
Will there be public transport available?
Yes, normal bus and taxi services will be available for this event. A bus and taxi zone is located on Main Street, Lake Albert.
What parking arrangements are available?
There will be parking available in the Apex Park carpark, as well as on-street parking across the neighbouring and adjacent streets to the event site. Accessible parking will be available in the Apex Park carpark which will be signposted and assigned for use by Mobility Parking Scheme permit holders. Event attendees are advised to obey all traffic signs and diversions in place and plan ahead to allow time to find a car park.
Will there be first aid available?
Yes, St John's Ambulance Wagga Wagga will be on site for the duration of the event should you require any first aid assistance.
Will there be toilets available?
Toilets are located at the permanent amenities block in Apex Park and Bosley Park. Additional portable toilets will be located in Apex Park, Ron Wheeler Park and Ray Beddoe Park. Accessible toilets are available at the permanent amenities block in Apex Park.
Are pets allowed?
No, as there will be fireworks, it is advised to leave pets at home. We encourage locals across the city to keep safety in mind for their beloved pets at home.
What about sustainability?
Wagga Wagga City Council endeavors to ensure environmentally sustainable practices are implemented at the event. In 2019, Council banned the use of single-use plastic items by vendors to reduce footprint. There will be colour-coded waste collection stations across the event site. There will be general waste bins, recycling bins and food organic waste bins. Event goers are encouraged to use the bins provided to dispose of their waste.
Weather conditions will be monitored in the lead up to and during the event. Fireworks may be delayed or cancelled in the event extreme weather conditions become severe or dangerous. Please keep an eye on Wagga Events and City of Wagga Wagga Facebook pages for updates. Emergency evacuation procedures will be enacted in the event of an emergency. St John Ambulance First Aid will also be onsite to assist in the event of an emergency situation.
