How to report a crime

If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call 000.

Research tells us that crimes are underreported across the board. It's important to report a crime so that authroities can direct their resources to the problem and prevent it from happening again.

There are lots of ways to report crimes or suspicious activity. Depending on why and how you report, these reports go to a relevant organisation such as NSW Police, or Crimestoppers. As a witness/victim/survivor, you have rights, and you can:

  • Report online, on the phone or in person
  • Choose to remain completely anonymous
  • Make a report as a record only, which means no further police investigation
  • Ask for an interpreter

How to report a crime:

  • If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call 000.
  • For minor crimes or non-urgent incidents where Police do not need to attend immediately:
    • Complete the online form through NSW Police Community Portal
    • Call the Police Assistance Line (PAL) 131 444
    • Visit the Wagga Wagga Police Station in person.

Where possible, always ask for an incident or event number to allow you to follow up on the report.
