Scores on Doors' Program

Promote your good food hygiene and safety record!

Wagga Wagga City Council has launched its Scores on Doors Program. A voluntary rating system that helps food businesses who comply with food safety legislation to gain a competitive advantage by increasing business marketing.

The Program is aimed at the retail food business sector selling food that is ready to eat, intended for immediate consumption, and potentially hazardous which means that it may require special handling and storage to be safe.

The following businesses are eligible to participate:

  • restaurants
  • takeaways
  • pubs
  • hotels
  • cafés
  • bakeries
  • clubs

If you are an eligible food business owner and would like participate in this program please complete and then submit the below agreement form to Council.

Depending on how well a food business performs and if the business is eligible, a star rating certificate may be awarded after a routine inspection by Authorised Officers of Council. During the inspection, businesses are assessed against a standardised food safety checklist and assigned a star rating reflecting their performance.

The certificate will show a star rating as indicated in the table below.

RatingPointsDefinition

0-3 The business has achieved the highest level of compliance with food safety standards.

Very Good

4-8 The business has very good food safety practices in place. Some minor areas where standards were not met will need to be addressed

Pending  16+ Pending status means the food business does not comply with food safety legislation. Follow up action is required. No certificate issued

How can a food business achieve a higher rating?
